- Communicating with the anxious/phobic patient
- Making the transition into practice through effective advertising
Day 2
- Prevalence of high fear in the population at large and how oral conscious sedation benefits the phobic patient and dentist
- Pharmacological overview as well as philosophy of protocols and effective dosing with scientific evidence and literature Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics/pharmacogenomics
- Safe patient assessment including monitoring and emergency protocol including safe and effective reversals
- Choosing the right patient with the right medication for the right procedure
- Nitrous oxide augmentation to oral conscious sedation
- Drug interaction
- polypharmacology
- post-op analgesics and post-op management
- local anaesthetic update
- osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ)
- review/update on prophylatic coverage
- Case studies on sedation patients
Optional demonstration and discussion Friday after course completes for the day: Tescera inlays (indirect restorations) and their application
to the sedated patient with demonstration.
Day 3
- Adapting treatment protocol to the unique environment of the sedated patient with emphasis on endo/surgery/reconstruction
- Diagnosing and treatment planning
- Case presentation and closure
- Marketing; 'how-to's' and practical application of effective marketing in your practice including the yellow pages, radio, direct mail, web design and web implimentation
- Nitrous oxide augmentation to oral conscious sedation
- How to more effectively bill for sedation and dealing with insurance companies regarding sedation dentistry
